Placing an order online for live poultry or chickens for your backyard is easy. Basically, the process is to select the breed or assortment you would like to order, choose the sex and quantity you want, add the poultry to your shopping cart, select an available hatch date that works for your schedule, and complete checkout and payment.
Here are the detailed instructions on how to place an order:
Select the breed you would like to order and navigate to the breed page.
We offer a large selection of different types of poultry, including Egg Layers, Bantams, Rare Breeds, Ducks, Geese, Turkeys, Guineas, and more. You can select the category of poultry you are interested in from the menu at the top of the website.
For example, if you are looking for laying hens, the Egg Layers category is a good place to start. If you are new to poultry, the Top 8 Popular Breeds page is also a helpful starting point. Here, we will select Easter Egger Chickens as an example product to order.
Each breed page includes a description and helpful details such as egg color, egg production tier, egg size, features, temperament, purposes, and origin. You can also reference reviews from other customers to learn more about their experiences with that breed.
From the breed page, select the sex and quantity you would like to order.
On the breed page, you can select the sex of the chicks if sexing is offered for that breed. You can also adjust the quantity using the quantity selector.
Be sure to review the Next Available Hatch section on the product page. This will show the next available hatch date for that breed, along with the estimated delivery date. You can click the arrow by the next available hatch to view additional hatch dates. You can also choose to hide unavailable hatch dates.
Please note that the hatch dates shown on the breed page are available for that specific breed. If you add multiple breeds to your cart, the website will find hatch dates where all of the breeds in your cart are available to hatch and ship together. You can see all breeds available on our master Availability Chart.
Once you have selected the sex and quantity you want, click Add to Cart.
We are known for allowing customers to mix and match breeds. You may order one of each breed as long as the total number of birds in your cart meets the minimum order requirement of 3. We also try to send extra chicks when possible, just in case of loss during shipping. It is also important to note that sexing is not 100% accurate.
Review your shopping cart.
You can access your cart by clicking the cart icon in the top right corner of the website.
Once you are in your cart, you will see the products currently added to your order. You can make quantity adjustments or remove products from your cart if needed.
In the cart, you will also be able to select from the available hatch dates shown in green. Since your entire order must hatch and ship together, the available hatch dates are based on when all of the poultry in your cart can be shipped together.
If Marek’s vaccine is available for the poultry in your cart, you will also have the option to add it to your order. We offer vaccination services for all chicken breeds except Cornish.
The cart will also show the shipping cost for the amount ordered, any applicable charges, and your order total.
Proceed to checkout.
Once your cart is ready for purchase, click Proceed to Checkout.
Before continuing, a pop-up will ask you to confirm our Terms & Conditions. It is important to read through these before purchasing live poultry. Once you have read and understood each section, check the boxes showing that you agree, then continue to checkout.
At checkout, you will need to enter your email, name, phone number, delivery address, and payment method.
Please make sure to use an email address that you check often. This is where your order confirmation and tracking information will be sent. You should also provide a valid phone number where you can be reached. It is the customer’s responsibility to track their order and pick it up from the post office right away once it arrives.
Your delivery address must be a physical address. We cannot ship live poultry to a PO Box.
Once everything is accurate, click Pay Now.
After checkout is complete, you’re all set! You should receive an email confirmation right away with your order details and scheduled shipping date.
