Ordering & Availability
How far in advance should I order my chicks?
During the busy spring season, chicks can sell out several weeks or even months in advance, especially for high-demand breeds.
Order as early as possible
From about February through June, live chicks often sell out far in advance. It is common for wait times to be several weeks, and some high-demand breeds may be booked out even longer.
If you know what breeds you want and have a preferred delivery time frame, it is best to place your order as early as possible.
Popular Breeds Sell Quickly
Egg layers, rare breeds, bantams, and other popular varieties may sell out quickly during peak season.
Use the Cart Availability System
Your shopping cart will show hatch dates where all of the breeds in your order are available to ship together.
Expect Longer Waits in Spring
During peak ordering months, chicks may be booked out a month or more in advance.
How to plan your order
You can use the availability system in your shopping cart to help plan your order. Once you add breeds to your cart, the website will show available hatch dates based on when all of the poultry in your cart can hatch and ship together.
You can also use our Availability page to review what breeds are available and when they may be ready to ship.
If you are flexible on breeds, you may have more hatch dates available. If you need specific breeds or varieties, ordering earlier is strongly recommended.
Availability changes throughout the season
Hatch dates and breed availability can change as orders are placed. For the best selection, we recommend placing your order as soon as you know what breeds you would like.
The earlier you order, the better chance you have of getting the breeds and hatch date that work best for you.
