What is Marek’s disease?
Marek’s disease is a widespread disease that affects domestic chickens in many areas of the world. It is characterized by lesions affecting the nervous system, organs, and other tissues.
Young chickens under 16 weeks of age are most susceptible. Once birds are infected, there is no treatment for Marek’s disease.
Why vaccinate for Marek’s?
Chicks must be vaccinated as close to the time of hatch as possible for the vaccine to be effective.
We vaccinate all of our breeding stock and strongly recommend vaccination if Marek’s disease is a concern in your area. Vaccinating your birds for Marek’s is another helpful step in strong poultry management.
