Live Poultry Shipping
How do the birds survive shipping?
Newly hatched chicks are naturally prepared for a short shipping journey because they absorb nutrients from their egg yolk before hatch.
Chicks have natural nutrients after hatch
When chicks hatch, they absorb nutrients from their egg yolk. This gives them approximately a three-day supply of food and nutrients, which helps make transportation possible during the chick stage.
This natural process is one of the reasons baby chicks can be safely shipped shortly after hatching.
USPS Priority Mail
We ship live poultry through USPS Priority Mail, which is normally 2–3 days throughout the United States.
Weather Monitoring
We keep an eye on weather and current travel conditions so each shipment can be packed with the proper warmth and ventilation.
Carefully Packed Boxes
Boxes are packed with the goal of providing the right balance of warmth, airflow, and comfort during transit.
Why timing matters
Baby chicks are shipped shortly after they hatch because this is when they are best suited for the trip. Their absorbed yolk provides nutrients during the early part of life, allowing them to travel before they need regular feed and water.
Once your chicks arrive, it is important to pick them up from the post office right away and get them into a warm brooder with access to feed and water.
Be ready for arrival
Tracking your order and picking up your chicks as soon as they arrive is very important. The sooner they are placed in a properly prepared brooder, the better their transition will be.
We work hard to pack each shipment carefully based on the season, weather, and travel conditions to give your chicks the best possible start.
